How to Order Custom Millinery

Whether you're looking for something for a special occasion or simply a special treat, we can design a unique look just for you. There is nothing more luxurious than owning a millinery piece that has been created for you and you alone.

When ordering custom millinery it is important to establish an open and honest line of communication with your milliner. We'd love it if you can drop by the salon to shop with us in person, but if that's not possible we work just as well over the phone or the internet. We strongly encourage that our first initial discussion of your creation be either in person or over the phone. After our first conversation, we can handle the rest over the internet or via the postal service. We can answer any questions, discuss your desires or send photos for approval all by email or the post. Custom millinery couldn't be any easier. Simply pick up the phone and give us a call!

We will need several pieces of information before we can begin the custom process. This information will be helpful to have at the time of our initial discussion.

1. Is this hat for a special occasion or for every day?

2. If it's for a special event what type of event is it? When is the event? What time of day is the event? Where is the event? Any special requirements?

3. Are you coordinating the hat with a particular piece of clothing or outerwear? If so, please send us a photo or two either via email or mail. Photos of any details or embellishments on the clothing will be helpful as well. We will also need a swatch of the fabric. If you wish to incorporate some of the fabric from your outfit into the hat we will need to have the fabric before we can begin.

4. What colors and materials were you considering? Straw? Felt? Feathers? Flowers? What other details did you have in mind?

5. Did you have a particular shape in mind? Picture hat? Cloche? Cocktail?

6. What is your head size?

7. When do you require your custom piece?

8. What other concerns or questions do you have?

There are several things to remember when ordering custom:

Each piece is made individually for you. Please allow for very small variances to occur as many of our pieces are made up from vintage materials and quantities are limited. Rest assured your piece will not deviate from the overall look of our photographs. No product will ship unless it meets our high quality assurance standards.

Custom millinery pricing will vary depending upon your selection. The Off-the-Peg Collections will give you a good idea of the starting point of some of our creations.

Any of the Off-the-Peg creations can be ordered in different colors with custom trims and embellishments unless otherwise noted in the description. Final pricing may vary depending on your selections.

Colors may vary slightly due to the dying process and materials.

Many times the colors shown on the website are not exact. If you are very particular or if you need to match or verify a color, please do so before you order.

A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at the time of ordering.

Custom orders require 4 to 6 weeks to complete.

If you require your custom piece in 4 weeks or less there will be a $75.00 Rush Fee added to the price. This fee is non-refundable and will be added to the deposit at the time you place your order.

Custom orders must be paid in full prior to shipping.

Custom designs, shapes, sizes and colors are considered a Final Sale at point of sale and are NON-REFUNDABLE.

Custom millinery is returnable for size alteration ONLY. All shipping expenses associated with a return for size alteration are the responsibility of the buyer.

We will not accept returns for reasons such as: "I don't like the style, I didn't think it would look like that, the brim is too wide or too narrow, the color is not what I want, the crown is too high, too low.," etc...... Unfortunately, we are not a traditional retail establishment that can afford a liberal return policy, and we do not create our hats contingent upon reasons such as these.
